A proud heritage. A future promise.

Babord is a family owned venture located on a small Norwegian island called Vågsøy. The story begins with the first fishing vessel in 1914 named “Fram” by Sevrin P. Kvalsvik and continues through the decades to see the present families taking on the ownership and operation of fishing vessels in the late 20th century. Since then, the business has grown steadily from its traditional seafaring origins to reflect the families passion for seafood at every stage of the supply chain.

In 2018, the Babord Group was formed, and now consists of three divisions: Babord Seafood, Babord Catch and Babord Industries. As a Group, we aspire to be an innovator in the seafood sector, always looking for more sustainable and environmentally friendly ways to meet our customers’ needs. We focus on delivering quality based on know-how and efficiency through the entire supply chain.

Today, our modern, highly specialised shipyard employs many experienced hands within the Babord Industries division. We work closely with an industry collective of innovative Norwegian companies to deliver on large, complex maritime projects. Our customers always feel secure in the knowledge that they have access to the full range of services required to complete new builds, conversions and repairs to modern fishing vessels.

Our long and proud history has given us many valuable experiences, and we draw on them today to meet the most challenging opportunities in the maritime sector. Our values are founded on the principles of quality, pride, and co-operation. Our people are key to everything we do and we work closely with our suppliers, other shipyards and our local community to deliver the best service for all our customers.

Heritage is not only a thing for hindsight. It is always being created and renewed.
